Welcome to Vazhakkala Church. Glad to be part of our shrine

SENIOR CITIZEN’S FORUM

“Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing”  (Psalm 92: 13-14)

“Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you”   Isaiah 46:4

The senior citizen is a common polite designation for an elderly person and it implies or means that the person is retired. But the retirement is only from the workplace and when it comes to church, the journey has just begun in terms of giving his/her services fully to the church.

Sunday, January 13, 2019, saw the Senior Citizens Forum bloom in revival in St. Joseph’s Church, Vazhakkala. All members of the Church, who have completed the age of 60 years and above, are eligible members of this Forum. The Senior Citizens meet on a specified day of every the month, at a predestined venue. In addition to Singing, Bible Reading, Intercessory prayer and Devotional message, innovative programs such as Physical fitness exercise, Health tips and Entertainment programs viz. കുസൃതി ചോദ്യങ്ങൾ, കടംകഥകൾ, etc. led by the members are planned during every meeting. This helps the Forum members to interact better and bind together as a group to grow in fellowship.

The Senior Citizens actively participate in Church activities. ‘Senior Citizens day’ is celebrated in the Church every year, during which the members assist in the Holy Communion service, Lesson reading, Prayer and Offertory taking. Other activities of the Forum include Visits to members’ residences in need, Visits to hospitals to offer fellowship and prayers for the sick members, Farewell to outgoing members, Yearly picnic, etc. The Forum is also active in expressing its social concern and responsibility in deeds.
